Job Responsibilities

Specific job duties will vary depending on experience level and dealership needs; however, you can read a summary of expected tasks below:

• Liaise with the dispatcher to receive repair orders.
• Perform the work outlined in the repair order promptly and with accuracy that aligns with dealership and factory expectations.
• Inspect customers' vehicles to identify the cause of any mechanical issues and perform repairs to rectify them.
• Communicate with applicable departments (to include parts, sales, and service) to obtain needed parts, communicate with the customer, and anything else required.
• If additional work is needed, communicate that immediately and eloquently to the assigned service advisor so that the customer can be informed and approval granted if needed.
• Document all the work done.
• Maintain a valid driver's license so that vehicles can be road tested to ensure the repair addresses the customer's issue or complaint.
• Participate in training when required and remain knowledgeable of factory technical bulletins.

• Diagnosing and repairing issues: Diagnose and repair mechanical issues, including electrical and electronic systems, brake and steering systems, and cooling components 
• Completing paperwork: Complete job cards and client-specific paperwork to document repairs, servicing, and identified defects 
• Quality checks: Carry out thorough quality checks on all completed work 
• Road tests: Conduct road tests to ensure vehicle performance 
• Explaining repairs to clients: Explain automotive problems and repairs to clients 
• Following safety standards: Uphold safe working conditions and comply with established work health and safety standards
